Hello,
I have 2 VMware ESX 5.1 servers and a nagios server at a remote site(with a different subnet).
My snmp requests to my esx worked very well.
But Recently, one of my ESX does not respond to ping or SNMP requests of nagios (timeout)..
If i change the IP address of nagios server (192.168.1.50/24 instead of 192.168.1.49/24), then the ESX responds back to Nagios for a while.. and the still refuse...
I think the ESX blocks requests from Nagios, but I don't know how. Note that only 1 of 2 esx is impacted.. If someone has a track, I'm interested..
Tony
Hello,
check this vmware'skb about the esxi 5.X firewall:
VMware KB: About the ESXi 5.x firewall
Best regards,

Helo Pablo,
Thank you for the reply, but I have not found any rule on the esx firewall.
All devices(including esx) correctly ping the Nagios server.
All devices corrctly ping ESX, except Nagios server.
I thought too it came from the firewall, but I have found nothing..

Hello,
Are there some firewall between the nagios server and the esxi host?
Maybe this firewall is what is blocking nagios.
Best regards,
Pablo
