ESX 5 upgrade from Hypervisor free

Hey guys!

I need to do an upgrade from a free Hypervisor license that I have on 2 servers.

The problem I am having is that the servers are Dell Servers T710 that their network cards were not compatible when we tried to install the downloaded Hypervisor installation disk. We had to download some Dell custom CDs in order to get the Hypervisor to install correctly and we ended up installing version 5.0.

Now we have to upgrade to version 5.1 of the paid version (VMWare Essentials) and we can't because the installation CD obviously doesn't find the network cards.

What can we do in order to install the server without issues?
Are there Dell custom images of the paid version of ESX?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Teo

Moving from "free" to "paid" is a matter of going to the licensing page and putting in your license key.

It's the same product - all you need is to unlock the features.

Yes, there are here, just click on "OEM Customized Installer CDs"

Ok perfect so it's just changing the Key?
Wow that's easy!

Thanks a lot!

I need to install Veeam and it doesn't work in the free version, that's why I had to upgrade.

Teo
