ESX 4, new release soon?

just wondering if thee has been any news on an update soon. From what i can tell since 4.0, nothing new has been released. Was hoping for full Win 7 / 2008 R2 support soon.

Nobody know except VMware. VMware won't tell you.

I'm a huge VMware fan but their support for new guest operating systems on ESX is VERY slow. I was really hoping that with the much publicised release of Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 on Oct. 22nd that they would have had an update for ESX 4 on that date to officially support these new OS's. Unfortunately, in typical VMware fashion there was silence. That would have been the perfect opportunity to help steal some of the thunder from Hyper-V R2's release (Win2008R2). Now, to officially run Win7 or 2008R2 in a supported environment you need to use Hyper-V. As if that isn't bad enough, they still have not yet addressed the video driver incompatibility with Win7/2008R2 which causes the VM to lockup (unless you manually uninstall the specific driver from the VMware Tools install).

VMware View 4 only works with ESX4 update 1 and the rumour goes that it will be released in November so you don't have to wait that long. That's the information I've received trough Twitter during a recent VMware partner day here in the Netherlands.
