One ESX 4.1.0 server (Standard edition) thinks it's managed by our VC Server, but it's not.
When connecting to the ESX server with a VSphere Client, I'm greeted with the message:
"This host is currently being managed by the VCenter Server at IP address ...". It's not.
I believe the problem started when trying to add this ESX 4.1.0 server to our VCenter Server 4.0.0
That's not a supported combination, but the operation seems to have left the ESX server with the VCenter Server Agent installed and misconfigured.
I suppose I'll upgrade our VCenter Server to 4.1 at some point, but how do I remove or correct the VC Server Agent on the host in the meantime?
I see this suggestion: http://http://communities.vmware.com/message/707920#707920
and can find this directory on the VCenter Server, but which script to use isn't clear.
Thanks....Lyle
Hi Lyle,
Have a look at the following kb and try to uninstall the vCenter Server Agent:
Good luck.
