Hi,
I have just done a fresh install of ESX 4.0 on an IBM x3950 M2 on local SAS disks (latest build as of today). I chose all default settings and it booted up fine. I attached to VC (also fresh install) and went to apply all the newest patches since release using Update Manager. The remediate got to 33% and it rebooted the host. On start up it doesn't get to the GRUB loader screen, but instead up the top left has the error "GRUB Loading stage1.5". There it stays.
I have rebooted multiple times to the same error. I am now doing a reinstall (I didn't get the option of an upgrade or repair or anything when booting on the ESX 4.0 CD for the second time) and will report back with my results.
Any idea's on what could have happened?
