ESIX 8.0 No Network Adapters No network adapters were detected

HI,

Iam using ESIX 8.0,

while trying to install Vsphere ESIX 8.0 the installation says.

"No Network Adapters No network adapters were detected. Either no network adapters are physically connected to the system, or a suitable driver could not be located. A third party driver may be required. Ensure that there is at least one network adapter physically connected to the system before attempting installation. If the problem persists, consult the VMware Knowledge Base. "

my machine has Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411

can someone help me with this?

Thanks @scott28tt

I could see the official support for RTL8111/8168/8411 is not there.

is there any other way around customizing the ISO by copying the Linux drivers.

Hi @mmbabjiml,

Realtek is not developing drivers for the ESXi platform, so those cards cannot be used with ESXi unfortunately.

There were 3rd-party-crafted Linux drivers for ESXi back in the vSphere 6.x days, but the legacy vmklinux (allowing to use Linux drivers on ESXi) was deprecated longer time ago and removed in vSphere 7.0.

You might be better of getting some (used) Intel NIC, which do usually work with ESXi. You can check the HCL for any working models and maybe get hands on a cheap, working NIC.

Hi @supergsm,

not sure on which facts this is based on. The fact is, that hardware vendors are responsible for developing drivers and firmware for their own hardware and also respectively for platforms they decide to support. As of today, Realtek is not developing drivers for ESXi nor does certify them with us.

If you want Realtek drivers, please reach out to the hardware vendor Realtek.

I went through that compatibility list and noticed that most of them are 25Gb+ network adapters, would any generic Dell card have a chance at working and the list is just ones that are tested by the VMware team? I'm just trying to install my first ESXi image so I can start to learn how to use it.
