I know this is a very easy question and I should be able to google it but I am not getting what I need!! It might be one of those questions that is so easy that everyone just knows it!!
I have a new ESXI 5.5 install and my harddrives are not an option in the datastore ( I know the hardrives are good because I had an option to install ESXi on them), Pretty sure I need to format them to vmfs in CLI but I have never used CLI and never had to do this before so a little nervous..
If someone could tell me what I need to do exactly that would be great. I just want my 1tb drives to be available as an option in datastore.
Do I understand you correctly? The drives do not show up ion the "Add Storage ..." wizard (Configuration -> Storage)? If so, do they show up in the "Storage Adapters" section?

I'm sorry I explained it a little wrong, I stepped away for 2 days and now just got back to it so I forgot about the error.
The drives do show up in the wizard but when I pick them I got this error in the wizard "create datastore parameter incorrect vm.host.diskpartitioninfo.spec" Crazy thing now is that I just tried again and it worked, Nothing changed.... Should I be worried ?
>>> Should I be worried ?
No, be happy.
Not sure what caused this, but it's usually caused by an exiting partition table on the disks you want to use/format as a datastore. So if this worked now, the old data has been overwritten and you shouldn't have any issues with the new datastore.

create thanks!! looks like I have to delete it though because I only picked 1mb block size and it is limiting me to 256gb on my VM. Hopefully it works again!!
With VMFS5 there's a 1MB unified block size for files (virtual disks) with up to 62TB.
