Downloading official VIBs

If you need drivers for a specific NIC, you can use the ESXi-Customizer tool to inject VIBs from the "aftermarked".

But I would like to use official drivers rather than downloading drivers from more or less obscure sites.

Is there a link for secure VIBs?

There are some drivers that is not included in default ESXi image and that you can download directly from VMware website... please, let us know which drivers you're look for.

Assuming you are using supported hardware, you should be able to find the drivers which are marked as "Async" in the VMware Compatibility Guide on the "Drivers & Tools" tab at the download page for the required version (see e.g. https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/info/slug/datacenter_cloud_infrastructure/vmware_vsphere/5_5#driver...)
