Downgrading vcenter 5.5

Hello guys,

last week we have updated our vcenter server from 4.1 to the latest version 5.5 using the inplace upgrade. For several reasons we need to go back to the previous version 5.1. Is there any way to do that except for going back to a backup since some things have been changed since the update or are there any problems. The best solution would be for us if there was some kind of inplace downgrade to 5.1? Or is the only possibility the backup and restore of vcenter and the database. At the moment our setup looks like this: we have one vcenter server vm and one database vm. In case we would really intend to go back to the previous version without using the backup. Which possibilities do we have? Is it by the way supported doing that when the database has been adjusted by the inplace upgrade to the latest version?

Thanks in advance.

I think, you have to restore your database backup and vCenter server backup (If you have it).

Then you can remove current vCenter and install vCenter 5.1.
