We have a small company and have been using the free version of Vsphere 5.0 on three servers (one has 32GB or RAM, the other two are smaller). Does the VMware vSphere Essentials Kit (the web site says $495.00) include the licence for Vsphere 5.0 itself or do you also have to ALSO purchase Vsphere Standard ($995.00 each)?
Thanks!
Do yourself a favor and opt for vSphere Plus. This includes vMotion. But yes, the kits include licensing the hosts as well as vCenter Server.
The Essentials Kits include vCenter Server for Essentials and 6 CPU licenses for a maximum of 3 hosts with up to 2 CPU's each. Please take a look at http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf for all details.

Thanks guys!!!

It is easy to why this question was asked. The cost is approximately 1/6 that of the same number of standard x proc licenses. I was confused myself.
