Does VM with ESXi5 VMware Tools work for ESX4.1 Host ?

Hi,

Just upgrade one ESX 4.1 Host to ESXi 5 Host in a Cluster of 3 Hosts.

We observe that VMware tools are running out of date for VMs on the ESXi5 Host.  We would like to know if we apply the latest VMWare Tools on those VMs, do they run properly when they are migrated to ESX 4.1 Hosts ?

Thanks

VMware Tools version of 5.0 is compatiable on 4.x but the virtual hardware version 8 is NOT compatible on 4.x

No issues. You can do the upgrade of VMware tools.

Keep in mind, it requires reboot.
