Hi,

No, FT doesn’t replace application clustering, You shouldn’t use VMWare FT to replace a Microsoft/Red Hat application cluster. FT doesn’t protect the primary VM from an operating system failure. If the application service fails, then the same instructions are shipped to the secondary VM and won’t work from that side either.

If the primay VM has a guest OS failure or also an application failure this is replicated also on the secondary.

To handle OS failure you can use VMware HA... to handle application failure you can use a guest cluster (for example).
