Distributed Switch across datacenters and clusters..

Hi

can a vDS be distributed across hosts in different clusters and/or different datacenters (in vCenter)

2 datacenters in London (physical) with hosts in each.  Each has a couple of clusters for prod, DR..  can a vDS for Prod and a vDS for DR be stretched across the 2 DC's?  i understand that there will be physical networking aspects to consider but i would like to understand if vDS can ultimately do this

thanks in advance

Wes

A vDS is a datacenter level object, it can span to any clusters inside of the same datacenter. By datacenter, I mean the logical container in vSphere, not physical datacenters.

Hi Chris,

Is this recommended or best practice to use 1xVDS across multiple VMWare Cluster within the same DataCentre?

Since I'm solutionizing such comparable design and bit sceptical about this approach.

If you may perhaps shed some light on this, would be much appreciated.
