DiskLib_Check() failed for source disk The system cannot find the file specified (25)

I am running a virtual machine on vSphere 5 which is having multiple snapshot. Now found that the server is not responding properly and tried to restart but could not. Ultimately had to restart the ESX host and even after that could not make the VM up. While trying to make a clone of the existing disk though vmkfstools command it is throwing error "DiskLib_Check() failed for source disk The system cannot find the file specified (25)"

Even not able to clone from viclient. Could anybody please help on this?

it details the steps req'd to recreate the descriptor files which sound like they are missing

Please use the following command before using the vmkfstools

esxcli system module load -m multiextent
