Disk consolidation taking extremely long time - should I be worried?

First post in the forums (Hi everyone) - I have found lots of good answers here in the past via search, but I am striking out on this one...

Situation:  2 VMs (1 Windows 2000 server, 1 Windows XP Pro) on an old IBM x3650.  In my ignorant days, I had stacked up several snapshots on both machines, so I scheduled an outage and shutdown the Windows 2000 server machine (138G), backed up the entire VM directory, and did a "Delete All Snapshots" ... waited several hours and enjoyed success.

Next night, shutdown and backup XP machine (68G) directory, and "Delete All Snapshots" - 12 hours later it is still stuck at 99%... so I did some searching and did '/sbin/services.sh restart' - logged back into vSphere and started up the XP machine... and it's working fine!  (yeah!)

But...

The VM status now shows 'Configuration Issues - virtual machine disks consolidation is needed' - so, leaving the VM running, I kicked off a consolidation process, and it has been running for 30 hours now, and is only at 27%.


Is it time to panic?

SELF UPDATE -  The progress bar only moved 1% yesterday, but when I came into work this morning the consolidation was completed.  The vmware.log shows a flurry of activity late last night.  It kind of looks like the consolidation process was actually stalled up until last night.  Since I have no idea what happened here, I won't mark the question as answered, but wanted to provide an update.  Total time taken for disk consolidation was nearly 48 hours.
