Disconnecting Host

Hello,

I need to know for 2 environmnets;

1) DRS NOT enabled

If I disconnect host, will it remove resource pools associated with it?

2) DRS IS Enabled

If I disconnect host, will it remove resource pools associated with it?

thanks.

DRS is required to create resource pool. When you disable DRS resource pool will be deleted.

Resource pools in the cluster will remain even if its disconnected / removed. You'll get an configuration issue if the resource pool can't satisfy the configured reservations if any due to disconnected host.

if you host is in a Non-DRS cluster, there cannot be any resource pools.

if your hosts is in DRS cluster, removing it will not remove resource pools, because they are directly under DRS Cluster and not under your ESXi host

There are no clusters. 10 hosts are directly under Datacenter. And resource pools exist under each host. Still Resource Pools will remain as it is in disconnect/reconnect?

in that case each individual host has it's own resource pools, which are bound to corresponding ESXi hosts only.

If you disconnect or re-connect the hosts, resoucepools will remain with host only.

you might want to modify your question slightly, Let's say you want to remove host from the vCenter Inventory, then all the associated resource pools will be lost with the host.
