Hi, I am having this issue with VMware Std licensing.
Currently we are using 10x cores licenses on 5 ESXi hosts. Each host uses between 5% to 15% (peak at 15%) CPU usage.
However the RAM usage is approx 80% per host.
Is there anyway to use only 1 CPU per ESXi host so that we can put in more servers ?
The drawback is that when we purchase servers, they come with 16 RAM slots but if we only buy with 1 CPU, only 8 slots are usable.
Looking at CPU vs RAM vs cost of VMware Std per core licenses (with 5yrs SNS).
It might be prudent to get 2x low-end servers with 1x CPUs just to activate the 8x 16GB RAM but is there a way to get 2x 2 CPU servers with 32x 16GB RAM but only use 2 VMware licenses ?
