Disable alarms for specific datastores

I would like to ask how people handle the alarm: "Datastore usage on disk" for datastores containing virtual machine files that have a large VMDK (close to 2TB) where we've created a 2TB LUN dedicated to the virtual machine.  For example: if we have a file server with a 1.9TB vmdk file and a provisioned 2TB LUN, we'll constantly get the alert that our "datastore usage on disk" alert.  I've tried looking at using folders but if I wanted to disable that alarm, I'd have to choose "disable alarm actions" which will disable all of the other defined alarms.  While we can recreate the other default alarms for the folder, it seems like an administrative burden if we ever add new alarms that are supposed to get propagated.

Any suggestions on how we can effectively handle this?  Thanks.

A right click on the specific datastore allows you to disable the alarm action without affecting other datastores.

Yes but that disables all the other alarms.  We just want to disable the space usage alarm.  Thanks.

Sorry that part wasn't clear to me.

Have a look at this http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-12145

The option on my datastore is grey'd out. What causes that?

Nevermind, switch to Datastores view and was able to set it.

Good morning,

I want to see your response to the question posted as I need to do the same thing (turn off 1 alarm for a specific datastore), however, the link you sent will not load for me. Help!

Our environment has this same issue. We'd like to disable one specific alarm for one datastore.

We've the same issue. We would created a datastore folder containing a lot of datastores and want to disable the "datastore usage on disk" global alert for the folder. The option is grayed out - but we can disable the alert on the datastore level.

Why is that?
