Developmental Virtual VSphere 5.1

I am currently have a problem with setting up a virtual esxi development enviornment.  I am interested in trialing a number of new packages in the vsphere suite namely VSphere replication, VDP, and VSA, and esxi5.1 vapp.

I can't get the esxi (5.0 or 5.1) host VMs to allow me to store vms to their data stores.

Has any one else had this problem?

I have figured this one out now thought id post the result:

On setup of the virtual host the datastore was working fine however next day and forevermore i had the described problem.  Once i figured that the problem occured overnight i turned off VDR action on the host vm and now i can create vms on my virtual host no problem.

I can snapshot the host vm though but vdr backup kills it.

Anyway hope this helps someone else.

What is the hardware you are running the ESXi 5.1 on?
