Deploying OVA fails

Hello.

I am trying to install owncloud on my VMware ESXi. I click on deploy OVA, then drag it onto the area it says to, then next, I agree to the terms then it says do not vlose window whilst it deploys. The file uploads fine to the server.

In the Tasks area it says importing VApp, with the progress bar, however the progress bar sits at 0%. I gave it 45 minutes last night before giving up and tried again this morning from scratch and gave it 1,5 hours. Still nothing that progress bar does nothing.

Can anyone offer any hints as to what I could try next?

Version 6.7.0 (Build 8169922)

I just tested the upload of that appliance on a standalone ESXi host version 6.5 U1 and it completed without issues. Try upgrading your embedded host client to the latest available here.

Thank you for responding, I did that but got the following message:

The update failed to apply - Host was not updated, no changes required.

I see that I am running the latest version

Sorry if I am being a pleb here does the install of the file have anything to do with the browser you are using, I dont suppose so, but I am running Safari?

It probably does and Safari is known to cause problems. Use Chrome instead.

I am trying from Chrome right now, alas its showing the same behaviour thus far after 10 minutes, no progress.

Very frustrating!

Am trying from pc now same issue.

This is not the browser as the file is uploaded successfully, surely the Import VApp bit is handled on the server not via the browser.

Is there any was to see progress logs or anything, I looked through the log bits in host>monitor but did not see anything.

It doesn't look like they publish check sums for their files, which is disappointing, but try to re-download the appliance in case it is corrupt.

Hi thanks, I have downloaded three times.

I have left a post on their forums, but as it worked for you there is presumably something wrong with my set up.

I have the free version as it were, is that a factor?

Free version shouldn't matter. Try disabling any browser extensions (if extant) and also your antivirus/antimalware and see if that helps.

The only extension that is on all the browsers I have tried is LastPass I'll take that off and see what happens.

From which source do you upload the OVA file? We have the same phenomenon at work when I try to upload an OVA file in our office domain from a redirected folder (e.g. desktop, downloads, etc.). If I copy the OVA file to a local existing folder (C:\upload for example) it works.

Hi there.

I could not see a way to do that as it wants me to drag the OVA onto the box, I'll try uploading it and see what I can do from there,

As an experiment I am trying to export a VM as well, this is showing the same problem, a task bar 0% full and apparently doing nothing.

There must be logs for this stuff somewhere, I cannot believe there is no information as to what is going on?

I am in the fortunate position of being a home player so was able to do a clean install of EXSI and basically start again.

Sure enough, deploying the OVA was flawless and took seconds.

Hey ho.
