I assume the video steps you are referring is how to update the firmware.

Alternatively, you could use the Dell custom ESXi 5.5 ISO and install the hypervisor on a USB stick (4GB stick is sufficient) and then boot the hypervisor from the USB stick. And then see whether ESXi 5.5 recognises the RAID 1 disks if you try to create a datastore. This is just to see if you really need a firmware update or not.

If you need to update the firmware, I suggest you create a bootable USB that contains the Dell Repository Manager. The link here has some links to some videos (I don't know if that is what you are looking or enough to get you going). Even if you don't have this problem, you need to do this anyway to manage the Dell server(s) that you have.

You should use the Dell ESXi 5.5 custom image.

There also appears to be a firmware update for storage detection problem on 1.8" drives. This is the description.

The first link that I sent you also contained the links to download the Dell custom ESXi 5.5 ISO aside from firmware and device drivers. It is under the Enterprise Solutions.

It should not be a problem for the installation. Refer to this KB https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1027819
