Dell Server Help

I am trying to install ESX 4 Evaluation on my Dell R515 Server. I get to a point in the installation when I have to select a location to install. There is nothing to select. Is there a partiton tool or something I need to format so vmware can see my hard drives? I am green as grass when it comes to this software so any help would greatly be appreciated.

thank you

More than likely it is because the storage controller in your system is not supported.  You may want to check the HCL:  http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl

Thanks James,

I have this server for something else and I wanted to test VMWare on it so I guess it is not the end of the world. The hardware compatibility link you set was helpful thanks, Guess it is back to talk to the Rep.

No problem.  Anytime you want to make sure your hardware is supported just check it out at that link.  There is also a whitebox list of hardware as well in case you wanted to throw a cheap controller into that box.

I think there is another one but I don't remember the link.
