Dell PowerEdge T610 installation failed

Hello,

My company just bought a dell powerEdge T610. I have download the VMware-VMvisor-InstallerCD-4.0_Update1-208167.i386_DellCustomized.iso file.

When I try the installation on embedded SD card I have an error saying unable to write to selected media

System Tag: 1464P4J

Dell Inc

PowerEdge T610

Any advice ?

Sure that you are selecting the SD card?

Have you tried with a USB stick (just to be sure that your ISO is fine and your system works)?

First, thanks for your answer.

Yes now I have tried to install it on a USB key and it's work perfectly.

The dell support told me that the embedded SD card is for driver update and not OS installation.

On an old dell documentation, I have found the DRAC (Dell remote Access controller) can lock the card. Unfortunately on the version 6 which is installed on the server you don't have any option to disabled it. I guess I have no other choise to keep the usb key

Yes, there are two memory card on recent PowerEdge: one for drivers and one (optional) for embedd OS.

For the second one you need the iDRAC Enterprise and there is the SD slot accessible from the rear.

But do you have the slot?

If you have it (empty) you can simple put a SD card and see if it works.
