Dell PowerEdge T100 64bit guest support

Hello all,

My apologies if this is basic but I'm just getting started with virtualization and I've installed VMWare ESXi 4 from disk and connected to it remotely using VSphere. I'm trying to install a guest OS as Windows 2008 64 bit but I keep getting an error saying the system is not 64 bit compatible when it is as it installs fine if I use the normal Windows 2008 disk to install the 64 bit OS. I checked the HCL and it seems to suggest that it should work fine.

Any ideas?

Regards

Chris

Hello and welcome to the forums.

If you haven't already, you will need to enable VT in the BIOS. Check kb 1000217 for more information.

Good Luck!

Does your CPU have VT-x support? See KB 1003945.

Thanks both. I did enable VT in the BIOS but didn't get chance to try the guest OS again. I'll try tomorrow and review your answers once I know it's working

I appreciate you talking time to respond

Note that a full power cycle is required after enabling VT-x in the BIOS. See .
