Dell PowerEdge R710 Local SSD's not showing correctly

Hi There

I have just added to local SSD drives as a RAID1 datastore to a Dell R710 running ESXi5 under vCenter5. I was expecting vCenter/ESXi to recognise these drives as SSD and allow their use for host cache but the drive type is listed as Non-SSD.

any ideas?

If you are presenting that disks as a volume (RAID1) through your RAID controller, vSphere might not recognizing it.

Try to present the two disks as single drives directly (pass through RAID controller) to your vSphere host.

Have you tried to tag them as SSD manually?
