Dell PowerEdge R610 Bios Settings for Vsphere ESX 4.0 (Vmware)

Hello Community

I have now two new PE R610 Servers and looking for a best practice Bios-Guide for my new two R610's.

Quick Spec: r610, 2x E5540, 16GB RAM (8x 2GB Udimm), 2x73GB SAS 15K with Perc6i, 2xdual Broadcom, Quadport Intel VT, MD3000i storage

Especially for the Settings:

- Memory Operating Mode (now set to Advanced ECC by the Service Technical)

- Node Interleaving (now diasabled)

- I/OAT DMA Engine (now diabled)

Maybe someone can also say something according the CPU Power and Performance Management settings. (OS Control, Active PowerManagement or Max Perf.)

Thanks in Advance for any suggestions.

Stefan

Other than enabling the VT support, the default bios setting has worked well for me. Any vm created will be using it's vmx file for bios setting.

I far as I know the best practice on physical motherboards is to use the defaut settings except VT enabling and boot order, unless your a gamer over-clocking your motherboard

Stability of the motherboard is more important than features for me.

If you find this or any other information helpful or correct, please consider awarding points.

Call Dell technical support and they will tell you - it is for free as it is advice

I do not really remember very vell but the most important options are VT must be enabled and I would also advise to enable 64bit.

There will be new BIOS release for R610 in the next few days so please have a look at Dell website and aply this too.

Thanks
