We have ESXi 4.0U1 installed on 3 HP BL460 blades.
We had an issue with HA due to our gateway going down, however in the process of trying to fix this we noticed something on the ESXi console.
If we go into Customize System > Configure Management Network > Highlight IP Configuration it shows "Default Gateway: Not Set" if we go into IP Configuration it shows the gateway, if we then exit it will show "Default Gateway: 10.99.61.99" if we exit back to the main menu then go back in its back to Not Set
Rebooting the blade seems to have no effect on it, also an upgrade to 4.1 is not possible due to driver incompatabilites.
Any suggestions?
Kimbie
If you check the DCUI or with the vCLI is the gateway set? If so I would just chalk it up to a client issue and not misconfiguration of the host.
Check in the hosts's console that the gateway is set:
If you still get a not set message when looking at the setting from vSphere client, you could try updating to 4.0U2 and see if that solves the issue.
Although I beleive Piaro is correct, would u try this too, it works on ESXi:
on vSphere Client, would u please choose the Host, configuration tab, networking, choose virtual switch properties, choose "management network" and edit it, choose IPsettings tab and edit default gateway.
Please if it is useful mark it as "Helpful" or "Correct", thank u.
