Datastore - temporary allocated space peak

Hi

Could anyone explain me how it's possible that with only thick provisioned VM's on a datastore, we get almost once per day a chart like this?

Again, no thin provisioned VM's and most VM's have a Ressource Allocation of "Normal" or "Low".

Appreciate any recommendation.

Thx

Are you creating any snapshots manually or with backup software? I have seen similar graphs when snapshots are involved.

Hi

Yes we do, but our Backup is creating Snapshots at 7PM and it doesn't really fit to the time in the graph.

But also when it would be the Snapshots, why it's allocating the double physically space to the VM's? If I create a Snapshot manually of those VM's the size is just a few GB, never that big that it would be in summary the double space of the physical space. We have almost a quarter free of the 2TB data store. So do we have any misconfiguration?
