Datastore not seen

I have set up a new vmware esxi server using iscsi to connect to the 2 datastores. Datastore 1 is not recognized. When I try to add it I can only format. The vmfs version is 3.31. Datastore 2 is seen and I can browse and do everything that I need, its version is 3.33. How can I get datastore 1 recognized without formatting as we have vms on there already.

Have you performed a Rescan? Basic iSCSI troubleshooting http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1008083

I have done a rescan several times, both datastores are on the same san.

After a rescan it should just pop-up, no need to add it. On the SAN side that you make sure the ESX host has the right permissions?
