Datastore Increase Button Greyed out

Hi All,

I checked couple of articles and could not find any solution,

I have VMFS 3.21 & 3.31 which  are showing Increase button greyed out. I am able to increase other few datastore on the same ESX/Cluster. ESX version is 4.0. I tried rescan, rebooting ESX, direct access to ESX from VI client.

Can any one help why i am not able to increase it. I have already allocated more space from SAN to same LUN.

Please suggest. Attaching the Screenshot.

Are the datastores you have successfully extended the same vmfs versions as these ? 3.31, 3.21?

Also have you checked all hosts in the cluster are seeing the new size through the Storage Adapters in Configuration?

Yes.. those are same vmfs version. few 3.21 & 3.31 both are extendable. but not others.

I have tried on other ESX hosts as well. it gives same issue.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not over familar with NetApp, but i do remember you can create snapshop reserves (cant remember if its on volume or lun)

Maybe check the NetApp and see if the space has been reserved?

Actually other Datastores/LUNs from same SAN box are good.

As harrygunter suggested did you check if you have snapshot configured on the NetApp Volume on which LUN is allocated

This article suggest expanding the Local Datasotre using vmkfstools --growfs command,  May be you can check if you can use this method for increase the LUN
