Hi,
Anyone know what's the Maximum Data store Cluster Size?
Is it possible to have more than 64TB in a Cluster ? ESXi 5.5 is the version.
Thanks
-Vijay
Seems, you should consider to other maximums for your configuration such as total virtual disks and etc:
Item | Maximum |
Virtual disks per datastore cluster | 9000 |
Datastores per datastore cluster | 32 |
Datastore clusters per vCenter | 256 |
Check this PDF file: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere5/r55/vsphere-55-configuration-maximums.pdf
Hello,
No you cannot have more than 64TB per Host. That is the maximum supported.

Thanks for the Response Davoud & Avinash.
So, the Maximum Size of the Combined Data Store size in a Cluster is 64TB. I am not trying to create a Single datastore of size more than 64TB.
I am trying to have multiple datastores ( for eg : 4TB each) , but can their combined Storage size be more than 64TB?
-Vijay
Hey Vijay,
yes the combined size can be greater than 64TB.
The maximum combined data store for a cluster would be 32 *64TB, bcoz the maximum number of data store's for a cluster is 32 and maximum size for single data store is 64TB.
Thanks,
Avinash
Hi,
There is no information about cluster size but seems, you can add 32 datastores with 64TB size in each DS cluster.
Also the datastore cluster stores 9000 virtual disks!
Number of virtual disk and number of datastores are important for you.
