DRS Enabled - Memory is still unbalanced!

Hi all,

could somebody please help?

ESXi v5.1.0 build 3070626 installed on all hosts

DRS is enabled but the Memory load is still unbalanced (55% to 85% Memory-Load).

Is there any way to have a more balanced Memory-Load (to have not more than 10% difference between ESXi Hosts)?

Just have a look at the screenshot.

Thank you!

DRS will take action only if there is memory contention on the host... the goal of DRS is not make memory utilization equal on all hosts, but just guarantee performance across the hosts in the cluster.

Hi,

thank you for your answer.

Is there a way to make memory utilization equal on all hosts automatically?

There is no automated way to make memory utilization equal on all the hosts. As DRS is enabled on the cluster, you need not to worry about memory and CPU load across hosts.

Also, it is recommended to have DRS migration threshold as 3 (middle).

You may want to read: VMware KB: DRS performs unwanted memory load balancing moves or DPM excessively consolidates memory.
