Not very complext but we have a DRS cluster of 8 IBM x3850 hosts on ESX 4.1 and we are going to upgrade them one at a time to ESXi 4.1 update 1. Will there be any issues mixing a cluster of ESX and ESXi servers?
yes, 100% supported! both are the same hypervisor, so you should have no issues running both in the same cluster. After all the is the best way to do a rolling upgrade, and is how we performed our move from ESX to ESXi.
