DELL OMSA ESXi4.1 problem

I am trying to install Dell OpenManage Server Administrator 6.3.0 (OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-6.3.0-2075.VIB-ESX41i_A00.8.zip) to ESXi 4.1 and receive the following error using VMware vSphere CLI:

vihostupdate.pl --server esxtest1 --username root -i -b d:\Downloads\OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-6.3.0-2075.VIB-ESX41i_A00.8.zip

Enter password:

Please wait patch installation is in progress ...

No matching bulletin or VIB was found in the metadata.

No bulletins for this platform could be found. Nothing to do.

with verbose and the scan option:

vihostupdate.pl --server esxtest1 --username root --scan -b d:\Downloads\OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-6.3.0-2075.VIB-ESX41i_A00.8.zip --verbose

Enter password:

...

<systemReqFailure>This VIB supports hardware vendor \'Dell Inc.\', but host reports vendor as \'Dell Inc.                \'.</systemReqFailure>

...

How do I modify the way ESXi4.1 reports the vendor to not include an extra 16 spaces(possibly a tab charactor)?

OR

How do I modify the OMSA package metadata to include the Dell Inc. vendor with the extra spaces?

OR

Is there another workaround?

Hi COOKVMUser,

Have a look at this article if it can help.

Good luck!

Thanks Franck for the link, unfortunately there are no references to 4.0.* in any of the xml files. Dell may have fixed that with their latest package specifically for ESXi4.1.

I have tried changing the references in the line

in the metadata.zip to include the extra spaces with no luck either.
