DELL LIBRARY TL 4000 IS NOT SHOWING IN VM(WINDOWS 2003)

Hi,

Dell Library TL4000 is not showing in VM. (Vm tools already installed on the vm machine). ESX version is 5.0

1. Zonning performed for the tape library.

2. Scanned successfully on the HBA card of the ESX server.

3. On the VM > Edit Setting > New SCSI hardware is added.

4. On the Windows 2003 server in Device manger scsi card controller installed succesfully. Medium changer also showing IBM drive over there. But there is no tape library is showing over there.

5. I also installed the Tape Library license on that server but its still not showing on the OS level.

6. VMTools already installed on the VM machine.

Please suggest what should I do to resolve this at the earliest.

Hi..

Have you tried asking Dell?

VMware does not support tape drives connected to an ESXi5 host...

Tape drives are now partner- supported... See the note here under Additional Infromation: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1016407

The FC tape solution does not work in a VM.

If you have a spare HBA consider to use VMDirectPath to resolve the issue.
