Crazy Snapshots!!!

Anyone know why a VM would create all of these snapshots automatically? I didn't build this vm, and am not responsible for this environment, but want to know for my own sake.

it appears to be some sort of automated task setup. Nothing in scheduled tasks in vCenter? Trying to delete that big of a tree could be tough. Maybe use VMware Converter and move the VM to commit all the snapshots? Are there any tasks and events that you can look into to see where this is coming from?

It could be something scripted to take snapshots every x hours/days/weeks/etc... It does seem more than a bit excessive though. Could also be that Update Manager is updating the VM and it was configured to either never delete the snapshot, or keep excessive amounts of them. Just for giggles, check to see how much space the hard drive is set for, and then what the total amount of space the VM (with it's snapshots) is using... Those numbers could make whoever set it up like that rethink their method.

Nope, nothing in scheduled tasks and it's not update manager either.

have a look at this thread, http://communities.vmware.com/thread/216723 , you may be able to track down who created the snapshot.
