Hi Guys,

Could not start VMX: msg.vmk.status.VMK_NOT_FOUND

Failed to create swap file '/vmfs/volumes/528532f6-ae5b9e36-bd62-7c050710dfee/xxx/vmx-xxx-276554991-1.vswp' : Not found

This error is due to it unable to locate it's .vswp file.

Has the VM recently been moved storage wise? Or has it vmotioned to a host which does not have access to the storage in which the vswap file is located?

Hi corvettefisher / MauroBonder,

Thank You for your input.

After a long research I had fixed it.

ISSUE: The .vmx file associated with the virtual machine is corrupted.

FIX: Recreate a corrupted .vmx file [ http://techhead.co/vmware-esx-how-to-easily-recreate-a-missing-or-corrupt-vmx-file/ ] // Thanks to for a great blog on how to recreate .vmx file.

Create a new VM and mount the VMDKs from the failed VM. This may fix your issue.
