Console rendering in ESXi 5.5?

How is the console rendered these days?

Having recently moved from 4.1 to 5.5, I must say that I was quite surprised when I used the console for the first time. Whereas the 4.1 console was pretty run-of-the-mill by remoting standards, the 5.5 console experience felt almost local - for a moment I thought I was running a local VM on VMware Workstation.

Is this PCoIP I'm seeing?

It's still the vmware console(MKS) that runs on port 902 instead of 903(in 3.x and 4.x). Web client uses HTML5 to deliver consoles over the browser.

AFAIK PCoIP is only used in view for VDI access and not in ESXi Smiley Happy

Correct, it's not PCoIP but there were some major improvements, mainly in the web client.
