Hi
I have 30 or so virtual machines where console works fine but for some reason one Win2003 x86 box gives the error "The handle is invalid - wait failed". I have tried re-installing tools with reboots between. RDP works fine. Issue has cropped up since an upgrade from ESX 3.5 to 4.
Thanks and regards
Stefan
When this condition exists, can you successfully telnet to port 902 on the ESX(i) host where the VM is running?
You should receive a banner back like:
220 VMware Authentication Daemon Version 1.10: SSL Required, ServerDaemonProtoco
l:SOAP, MKSDisplayProtocol:VNC , VMXARGS supported
Also, when this issue is occuring, is your console session being opened from a computer located on a different subnet than the ESX(i) host? If yes, please try opening the console from a vSphere Client session on the same subnet as the ESX(i) host.
VCP 3, 4
Can telnet to both ESX hosts OK and console session from my PC is on same subnet. Have also tried from the Vcentre box - same message.
Other Win2k3 x86 hosts work fine with console and also RDP.
Thanks and regards,
Stefan
