Connecting to ESXi 5.5 server via Browser?

Hi Guys,

How do i connect to my vSphere server ESXi 5.5 via a browser.

Should i always install install the full web client package to do this or is there an other way?

I just want to type a URL in my browser and see the UI i have in the Web Client package.

Hi Feurich,

If you plan on managing your virtual environment from a web browser than you will need to install the web client option onto your vCenter server. Once you've installed the web client onto the vCenter server, you can access it via https://YOURVCENTERSERVER:9443/vsphere-client

Its a bit confusing for me, "vSphere server ESXi 5.5 via a browser". Not sure if you want to connect to ESX or VC server. However for connecting to ESX you need to use vsphere client. Web client does not work for ESX.

For VC server you need to install webclient either on remote machine or with the VC server, your choice. You need to register your web client with SSO. After that you will be able to access all  the VC registered to SSO and All the ESX which are connected to VC with all the functionality.

Web URL for the web client will be, https://<Web client IP where you have installed it>:9443/vsphere-client

to access your Esxi server using browser, first you will have to install webclinet and then register your vCenter server to webclient...now add esxi server to vC and access it from browser

Thanks for pointing out that I was connecting to the wrong server :smileysilly:.

Sorry for this. I thought I had to connect to the Linux (ESXi) server but I needed to connect to the Windows 2008 R2 server that manages the beast.
