Conflicting path policies

Hi All,

In our VMWare ESXi 4.1 cluster, I've just come across a datastore that consists of two extents.  One of these extent LUNs has the Round Robin path policy set while the other is using VMW_PSP_FIXED_AP.  Do you think this could cause issues?  We experienced I/O issues on some virtual machines that contain VMDKs on this datastore the other day, after they had new RDMs added to them.  We think the issue is probably down to this but wondered if anyone could give further advice.

Cheers,

Duncan

Well, try to avoid this. While fixed will use 1 path only to transfer data to the storage, RR will user all paths, one at atime. If the Fixed path is overloaded, parts of the VMs that resides oin this LUN may be affected, while the parts on the RR LUN can have a better performance. In overall, you may find that all VMs will be with the performance of the fixed path.
