Hello,

I want to delete my VMs completely from my VMware ESX 4.1.0. i need a new fresh start. The last time i tried to remove the VMs everything didn't get deleted some residues were occupying some spaces. Any recommendation  as far as process?

Thanks,

you could just destory the lun.

otherwise just dlete the vms in  the client, then remove the risiduals manually.

You can choose an option of delete from disk from the vSphere Client. You can also format the Lun if you want all the traces to be gone.

Right click on the VM and select Delete From Disk - should remove all of the VM - if anything is left you can use the datastore browser and delete manuallu

i don't have a  lot of experience with VMware i think deleting the VMs should be ok with me. Now how to remove the residuals using the datastore? Can i have the steps if that's ok ?

you can follow these simple steps

1- manully delete all vms in that  luns from the vpshere client

2- go to configuration and click storage > then delete the LUN

3- Then again add storage > it will format automatically

What residuals you are referring to , if you select the VM from VI Client > Right Click > Delete from Datastore this will delete the complete VM folder. There will be nothing left there in the datastore.
