I'm planning to build a new server for ESXi, for hobby purposes. But i'm not sure if my configuration is going to work with ESXi.
Intel Server Board S3420GPLX
Intel Xeon X3440
Kingston ValueRAM KVR1333D3N9K2/8G
Western Digital RE4 WD2503ABYX, 250GB in RAID0 with onboard controller
The Intel website (link) says the following about the ethernet controllers:
Embedded Intel® Dual Gigabit Controller 82574L and 82578DM
The 82574L is compatible with ESXi i found on the compatibility list, but the 82578DM not. Does anyone know if when if buy this board i can only use 1 port or no one at all?
And is the rest of the configuration OK?
