Command lines for vsphere in putty

Hi All,

Could anyone let me know some sample command syntax for vSphere in putty....??

If anyone can suggest any pdf or material for the commands it will be of great help...

I find the commands from esx 3.5 is totally different and doesnt work with vSphere....

log in to your ESX server

go to /usr/sbin

list the commands that start with esxcfg (ls esxcfg* -l)

check the MAN page of each command.

Are you sure? Most of the commands (and also the syntax) are the same.

Well most of the commands are similar....but there are some more command in ESX4 for managing the PSA architecture.

You are welcome.

Just keep in mind by default you cannot ssh to esx Server. You have to change the settings before hand.

and if you use another user to login and then switch the user: (su )

You will need to type your commands starting with ./

for example this command will list your nic cards.

./esxcfg-nisc -l
