Change VM name and files

I have a server whose name and files I'd like to change in vCenter. If it's name is currently server1 and files are server1.vmdk, etc. is there an easy way to rename it to server2?

Thanks,

Scott

you can change the object name in vCenter to the new name, from there issue a Storage vMotion to a new LUN, and the underlying file set(s) will be renamed as well.

make sure though to align the names with the OS name as that will simplify troubleshooting if and when required. Seen many issues in the past where people powered down the wrong VM from the commandline because of naming issues.
