CentOS 5.5 - After boot completes the guest operating system version switches to 'Other Linux'

I have a CentOS 5.5 VM on ESXi U1 (fully patched) that when powered down is configured as operating system version "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (32-bit)", but after boot (and the VM tools have loaded) reports as "Other Linux (32-bit)" in the vSphere client. Any idea why this would happen? This particular VM was converted from Server 2.x and the VM tools updated using vsphere console and then reconfigured (running vmware-tool-config.pl). Is this some bad interaction between the tools and ESXi?

The VM may be set via the VM settings as Redhat but tools do report it correctly as Other Linux
