Hi!
Im trying to set up rigths for a user. The user shall only have access to his four VM:s. I have done this:
Datacenter & Cluster: read only
Test & dev resource pool: admin (not propagate)
Chalies testpool: admin (not propagate)
VM1: admin
All rigths are defined in "this object".
The user cant browse the datastores for his VM:s (under edit settings, to mount a ISO). Its greyed out.
I now that the admin should be able to browse the datastore...
What have I missed?
Regards
H
vSphere 4.0 changed the way permissions for datastores and network are handled (for the better ). See chapter 9 - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_upgrade_guide.pdf.

Gave admin rigths for the user for the host that the VM is currently residing on. I cant view the datastore there either.
If I give the user admin rights at datacenter level will I be able to browse the datastore for my ISOs (and propagate).
Is this a bug? I should not have to give access to all of my datacenter for this?

Peter

Thanks for your help!

Datastores: I created a new role so that the user could browse and upload files to the DS.
I sat the permission on the folder containing our datastores.
So now the user sees only his VM:s but he can use the datastores as well.
