Cannot vmkping iSCSI target

Hi,

I have a question regarding vmkping.

I have attached a server via a hardware iSCSI HBA to a HP MSA array.

I have created luns and presented them to the esx 4 server.

All is fine, the server sees the luns as it should and can run vm's.

However as a test, when try to ping the array with vmkping or ping commands there is no reply from the iSCSI target ip adress.

Shouldn't it give a reply or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Regards

With vmkping you shuld have a echo reply.

Note that ping can work only if there is also a COS interface in the iSCSI networks.

There is not a COS interface for the iSCSI network since this is a hardware HBA.

Thanks.

In this can you can't use ping (no COS) and also vmkping (no vmkernel interface on iSCSI network).
