    Hi there,

Is anyone else having this issue?

I was able to mount CIFS shares just find on ESX 3.x, but with vSphere 4.0, I get the following error when attempting to mount:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //192.168.100.20/Images,

    missing codepage or other error

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try

    dmesg | tail or so

When I check out dmesg, I see this:

smbfs: mount_data version 1919251317 is not supported*

Anyone have any luck mounting CIFS from the new service console? I'm trying to see if I can get Visbu 1.0.1 working on this new version.

    Thanks for your help!

Do you use -t cifs or -t smbfs?

VMware Knowledge Base is a great place for searching for these type of answers

    http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1010819&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=27402335&stateId=0%200%2027404696

As mentioned, your type needs to be cifs and not smbfs
