Cannot install 4.1 on HCL approved

Hi,

I specced up my system as per the HCL and I took delivery today!

Unfortunately, I'm getting the following problem:

Installation Operation Failed

Unable to find the system image to install

this is due to image not being mounted correctly

or the cd rom not being supported

I am trying to install a USB

I have checked and cross referenced the MD5

I get the USB drive AND the Array to install on:

I select:

Adaptec vmhost01 (mpx.vmhba0:c0:t0:l0) 1.82TB

I'm using the standard 4.1 installable copied on to a USB Drive and then used syslinux to make it bootable (rename isolinux.cfg to syslinux.cfg etc)

The Adaptec 5405 is what i am using, i have looked at the simple.map and found my device 9005:0285, but am unsure what else to try/do.

I'm quite technical, and have googled my eyes raw red!

I'm going to try ESXi 4.0U1 and see what happens.

I will also test he USB key in VMWARE WORKSTATION to see if it is viable or a hardware issue.

Hiren.

After installing 4.0, we used vSphere Inftrastructure Client to browse the datastore, upload the extracted zip contents of the 4.1 upgrade afterwhich we put the server into maintenance mode)

We then logged in using SSH on the console and ran the upgrade and the restarted.

No problems or warnings.....

Very strange problem.
